Al Gore, for the win
Well I’m glad that we have someone to fight for the environment in such a prominent position. Sure, many people now don’t give a second thought to our environment, we will when the effects of our misuse slap us in the face. For example, what will happen when we run out of oil? All the economies of the world will come to a screeching halt when there is no way to transport goods, or to get to work when you live 20 miles away. Scientists predict that there is only about 30-40 years of oil left at the rate we consume it and based off of how much oil is predicted to be in the Earth’s crust. What happens when the air is so polluted that it is impossible to go out for some fresh air? Its already happening in places such as Mexico City, Its for reasons such as that the protection of the environment is important. Sacrificing small things now will allow our next generations and us to live a better life tomorrow.
I honestly have never really been a fan of Al Gore. However, I’ve got to give him props for trying to help the environment. Even though (in my opinion) he would have been a horrible president, I think the fact that someone famous and somewhat influential is supporting the environment is of enormous importance to this earth. He is actually catalyzing a change, and for that….I am starting to respect him.
i give respect to al gore what he is doing to this world. although i don’t think he would a better president than bush. this man has won most of the major prizes. he is world famous, who is trying to do great things for the world.also my congrats to al gore for winning nobel prize.it is hard to get a nobel prize also the good thing is al gore name will be said great people like mother teresa
i don’t think he’s getting ridiculed at all for his enviromental consciousness, but in my opion he can’t run a country. I support his efforts like i said earlier but he in no way shape or form capable of running a country. yeah for him that he has obtained these awards but as far as political issues goes that’s where he is in the dark. i still think he rocks a big fan i am.
He is with no doubt someone i admire with the efforts he put forth, in his research, and his devotion to keeping up a healthy earth. I think he could have been a good president although he did have a few flaws, but what human being doesn’t. i admire his work and like andrea said because of that project i have been working hard to “save” the enviorment by doing my part. and as far as the movie goes a must see for all you little scientists out there it was good and conveyed his point well and really illustrated the seriousness of global warming especially. Al Gore you aint that bad just don’t run for prez.
Other than now, I really haven’t taken notice to Gore or his work. But this is an amazing accomplishment. Although action might help us to solve our problems, I believe that knowledge is key in preventing the problem before it even happens and that is what Al Gore is doing. He is an example for others to follow and if people would just provide the information to the public, there might not be as many problems in the world that there are today. This Nobel Peace prize will bring much recognition to the subject of global warming which has been an unacknowledged problem that has been swept under the rug for years. After watching the documentary “Super Size Me” I refuse to eat McDonalds and haven’t for years. It takes something as bold as what Gore is doing to actually bring about some change.
i was glad to hear that Al Gore is still doing the world good even though he lost an election. it’s great that he’s still doing what he loves and has not given up. although most people do not care about something as “little” as the environment, it’s good to know at least one person cares. even though we will not be affected by the effects of global warming in our generation, we should still be aware and take action and not take advantage of the shape the ozone layer that it is currently in. later generations will have to deal with the problems that we generated.
Al Gore is definetly a one of a kind man. I also admire him and what he has achieved. I believe that his movie was will spark global effort to preserve the earth and prevent fruther damage. The dude definetly deserves the Nobel Peace Prize, but he still has a long way to go to become president. He really does not need to be president. As long as he keeps promoting and convincing people, he will help make the world a better place.
I have actually seen a bit of his movie. It was pretty much a long powerpoint + lecture + a few movie scenes + hardcore power point animation + Gore in a serious mood = “An Inconvenient”
Though the movie was very basic, it was jammed with many good facts and convincing information. =)
I think that it’s excellent to have notable political figures active with helping the environment. Amidst all the other chaos and protruding issues in our world, we hardly seem to have time to realize the small things that could one day have a huge impact on our lives. Gore’s efforts will hopefully have an affect on many people since he his admirable to much of our country.
What hasn’t Al Gore done? All he needs now is to collaborate with Timabaland to win a Grammy and complete his trophy collection. I think it’s great he won and I don’t mean to be a “hater”, but really, he isn’t the first person to suggest global warming and his theory isn’t original. Ok, he made a documentary and is “championing the cause” but there are plenty of other people doing the same thing, Dr. John Christy for example; Gore just happens to be the ex-vice president and is best friends with half of Hollywood.
Gosh, he’s got a Nobel peace prize AND an Emmy. Didn’t he get a Grammy for soundtrack as well?
Perhaps he should make it into a musical and get a Theatre World Award.
I’m glad that you feel this way about Al Gore’s conservationist efforts. I’m completely in the dark about the reason why people tend to ridicule Al Gore when it comes to his campaign for enviromental consciousness.
Too many articles that I’ve seen applaud Gore for his efforts then proceed to derisively refute all of Gore’s proof regarding the environmental crisis and attack his credibility. Some people, after seeing An Inconvenient Truth respond in the same manner, commenting on the poignant and evocative nature of the film, but scornfully wonder why Gore would all of a sudden dare raise up a banner in support of something he had so little background in.
His dedication to the efficient management of resources and educating people in that vein is really commendable.
GO GORE!! wooo
I believe that as president, Gore would have failed miserably, just a personal opinion, but with all his recent doings he has become a man i actually admire. Is dedication to his cause show that maybe he could have been a good president. His dedication is very inspiring.
Ever since the Carbon Foot project i have actually been trying to be more environment concerned, and after reading more about what gore has been doing it facinates me, it motivates me to stp driving to school, or to eat less meat, or take short showers.
I think now is the time for Gore to run for president…he has an emy and a nobel peace prize…now just top it off with president!
Al Gore’s “An Inconvenient Truth” was a vital way to express the damaging effects of global warming and it did so using a mode that most people could enjoy. His movie inspired other people in media to spread the message about the environment such as Leonardo DiCaprio’s 11th hour. His movie propelled people in television to take action as shown by NBC’s Green Week. I have not seen the movie to say if Al Gore’s documentary is on the same scale as Rachel Carson’s “Silent Spring” but I think in the future it will be understood to have the same amount of importance.
