The Ger Bear on whole page :

4th period, I’ll be having a very stern talk with you.

ethan nelson on whole page :

all i have to say is 6th period is the best!!! and we sure know how to cut a rug.

fran on whole page :

6th periods dance was more like cell cycle…..they actually performed mitosis perfectly.

Kamene Dorunbari-Ogidi on paragraph 4:

I love how our fourth period class was so…inactive.

The “dance” actually helped me to remember, though. Which was weird..because it was so half hazardly done.

Kaitlin Willems on paragraph 4:

Studies have shown that visual as well as active participation help to better instill information into memory. Thus, the dance helping with retention.

My studies have shown that 6th period OWNS.

Next to come, the 300 immune system.

January 2, 2008 2:55 pm

Funny you should mention the 300 immune system…my husband and I watched 300 the other night!

I’m totally excited about making that movie!

Kaitlin Willems on paragraph 4:

My grandmother and I just watched this video together and she couldnt stop laughing.

She is a biologist that lives in Michigan and made me show her how to pull it up and is excited to show her classes what we have done.

Congratulations, we’re famous :)

January 2, 2008 3:06 pm

Yes!

Just wait until we make “300: The Immune System”…then we’ll REALLY be famous. :)

The Ger Bear on paragraph 4:

Unfortunately, Kaitlin, 6th period does not have the epicness that 4th period has with Anthony Gerhart and Kelsey Wise. Maybe y’all can dance, but what’s for certain is that we can kill.

January 2, 2008 3:13 pm
Kaitlin Willems :

Anthony, your comment awkwardly scares me, but if its a challenge you want, youre on.

4th period vs. 6th period

Jocelyne on paragraph 4:

I think that of all the classes mine did the best (6th period). I really enjoyed it. I am a visual learner and found this activity incredible fun and engaging. It helped me remember the cycle alot easier. I hope others get to see this.

Noma on paragraph 4:

Yeah actively participating is a great way to learn about concepts. There’s a lot of Youtube videos made by students in AP science classes that are informative as well as funny.

January 6, 2008 10:22 pm
Angie on paragraph 4:

No questions about it, 6th period owns….a litte all over the place but at least we’re enthusiastic about it! That really did help me understand the concept better though, on paper it wasn’t as clear, but put some music on and oh yea it’s cell division time!

January 8, 2008 6:41 pm
Kishan Patel on paragraph 4:

Because I think I learn visually and by doing the dance helped me learn more about mitosis than words in a book did. Before the dance I really had a lot of trouble understanding or relating to mitosis.

sussana elkassih on paragraph 4:

First of all, 4th period you need to step up your game, I mean you totally disgraced the whole beautiful process of cell division. I really enjoyed the chromosome dance, and I’m really glad that I was part of the membrane, because I was able to “observe” what was happening within the cell and the pretend chromosomes. I never really felt that I was a visual learner, but while I was taking the test, I noticed I that I would refer back to the dance to remember the transitions from each phase.

Andrea Deschenes on paragraph 4:

Ohhh man, I think 4th periods cell must have been dying…or the mitochondria wasn’t producing enough power to supply the cell adequetly because ya’ll needed a little excitiment :)

But either way it was such a help to doing this dance. Mitosis has NEVER been my subject. I remember getting my test grade back in 9th grade bio and saying I HATE MITOSIS, but now Im like Mitosis? No Biggie! This demonstration allowed me to visualize the actually process (minus the insane crazy dancing). During the test I would recall the phases by visualizing the dance!

Kristal Jackson on paragraph 4:

Yeah, so we totally rocked that video. The funny thing is that I usually never really liked studying mitosis and meiosis, because I never really could remember the steps. Now, all I can remember is watching Steven and Jocelyne shaking what their makers gave them. I just hope that I won’t remember that on the AP exam – I’ll probably get kicked out.

Thanks for posting the video!

Destiny on paragraph 1:

Gosh, I am so mad that I missed that period! To be a part of something so grand and informative like this video has always been one of my most set ambitions.

January 13, 2008 4:05 pm
Aadil Sarfani on paragraph 4:

I don’t think I’ll ever forget how mitosis works…

January 14, 2008 6:19 pm
Joshua Geevarghese on paragraph 4:

chromosome dance was am excellent way to learn about the mitosis
the dancing was fun too
i somebody else said i dont think i will ever forget the mitosis
also thanks for the videos
now i can show to my friends

Bonnie on paragraph 4:

Firstly, 6th period owned 4th and any person who has a remote sense of rhythm can attest to this. I really like doing this dance, the only thing I regret is not being able to be a chromosome. Actually, it should be all of the viewers out there that are regretting this, because I would’ve broken out some killer dance moves. Yeah, that’s right Kaitlin, you and your snap entry would’ve gone down. Need I bring up the strobe light?
