When I set up thebiologyspace.info, I gave a lot of thought to the site's design and functionality. I wanted my website to be a place where my students could get nearly all their instructional materials for class, but I also wanted a space where students could discuss current events in science that either I had read about or that they had read about.
Hence, the blog. I would like this space to become a place where my students (ostensibly, you the reader!) can discuss current events in science with me and with others in an online forum. Since our in-class time is extremely limited, I felt that providing an online discussion space was necessary to achieve this.
By using RSS feeds from the science sections of a few reputable news sources, I hope that you will click on the stories there that catch your eye and perhaps post a comment about what you've read. You never know what people get from the articles they read, as all our perspectives on scientific discovery differ, depending on the biases we bring to the table when examining scientific articles.
It is my hope that this space will become a place where we can all discuss the endless bounty of discoveries made daily by some of the world's most creative sorts.
